Charlie & the Chocolate Factory Zoom Event -  Calling all kids ages 8-11! Come spend a virtual afternoon lost in a scrumptious world of chocolate, candy, and golden tickets. After picking up a free Charlie & the Chocolate Factory book and craft kit at the Downtown Redwood City Library, tune into this online event for fun activities, book discussions, & more! 🍫🍭🍬FREE EVENT & CRAFTS! 🍫🍭🍬 To Participate: Pick up a free Charlie and the Chocolate Factory book and material kit on Saturday, April 17th from 1:00 - 2:00pm . With no-touch-delivery, staff will place kits in your car. Kits distributed while supplies last. This will include a QR code to the zoom meeting!   March 16th, 2021 This week, members of the Youth Literacy Council read aloud picture books for Redwood City Library's story time program, " Stories from Your Community ," an ongoing series of recorded picture book readings. We were so excited to record these videos to share with the community! AWESOME SUCCESS with Magic Tree House Themed Zoom Party!!!

Virtual Zoom Book Party was a success!!! 💚💚💚 Our first ever virtual youth literacy event was so fun and lively! The kids were joined by their parents and siblings on zoom to participate in FUN mask-making crafts, unicorn cup crafts, dancing, and book discussions. We had four breakout rooms which rotated so all activities were completed. Everyone's enthusiasm added to the spectacular time of discussing  Magic Tree House ! We loved talking about magicians and unicorns with everyone.💚 We are so happy and grateful to have connected with the youth's love for reading through this event. Thank you to all who joined our magical mission! Beginning of the zoom! Planning with the team! Breakout rooms! A final thank you, featuring some awesome unicorn masks!

Magical Zoom Book Party Upcoming Event! 12/05/20

  Magical Zoom Book Party -  Calling all K-5 kids! Come spend a virtual afternoon lost in a magical world of unicorns, wizardry, and fairytales. After picking up a free Magic Tree House book and craft kit, tune into this online event for fun activities and a book discussion. FREE EVENT & CRAFTS! To Participate: Pick up free Magic Tree House (Merlin Mission): Blizzard of the Blue Moon book & craft kit This will include a QR code and meeting code to the zoom meeting! When: Saturday November 28th 1:00 PM - 1:30 PM Where: Downtown Redwood City Public Library (1044 Middlefield Rd) Virtual Event Details:  Date: Log into zoom on Saturday, December 5th 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM Where: Zoom meeting code will be included in the craft kit Crafts and Other Activities to be completed during the event. Crafts include a unicorn cup craft, unicorn mask, dance activity, coloring pages, word searches, mazes, and more! Read the book beforehand! Dress up as your favorite character in the book! (optional)
The Redwood City Youth Literacy Council​ is helping with the Redwood City library Winter Reading Club VIP party. They'll be handing out toys and books to kids that have read 5 books over the break. Thanks to everyone for donating books and Hasbro for donating the toys. Please come. Teen Read Week - Great day discussing The Great Gatsby with teens around the county. We discussed the difference between the movie and the book while enjoying great snacks and drinks. Overall, we had a great day of camaraderie and in-depth analysis, convincing area teens of the value of reading a classic.
